Grayton Beach Surf Club started as an informal group of like-minded surfers from Grayton Beach and Santa Rosa Beach. GBSC goes back to the days of driving ATVs and Beach Buggies around the dirt, sand, and oyster shell roads of Grayton, building bonfires without needing a permit, and waking up to the sounds of peacocks, roosters, and barnyard animals. From young surfers sharing used boards, sleeping on the beach around bonfires to be first on the waves in the morning to high school surf clubs, to bringing our families up together in and around the waves of the Emerald Coast, this little Surf Club and this little town have seen a lot of changes.
In 2021, GBSC grew into a home-business offering private and group surf lessons, surf coaching, surf camps, board rentals, and surf meet-ups along our little stretch of Santa Rosa Beach, now known as 30-A. Now, we are fortunate to finally have fulfilled a lifelong dream and have opened our own local, homegrown, family-run Surf Shop in the heart of Grayton Beach. Now offering new and used surfboards for sale, locally designed shirts and surf apparel, local jewelry, local surfer-designed art and photography prints, surf gear, surf workout programs and classes, along with surf lessons and surfboard rentals. We are proud to be able to share the stoke of surfing with everyone from groms to surf moms to old dudes. Whether you're wanting to surf for the first time, improve your surfing ability, or just grab a bar of wax and talk shop on the porch, we've got the local spot for you.
Meet Taylor
Grayton Beach Surf Club is owned and operated by Taylor Frappier. A Fourth-Generation Grayton Beach
local, Taylor grew up in Grayton in the original house his great-grandfather built in 1936. Taylor
has built Grayton Beach Surf Club on decades of Gulf Coast surfing experience, world-traveling in search of the perfect wave, and a lifetime of Gulf of Mexico water knowledge. Taylor has been coaching and teaching surf lessons in Santa Rosa Beach since the age of 15. Throughout his life, surf coaching has taken Taylor to some unexpected places around the
world - even teaching surfing at a wave pool in the middle of Texas, 200 miles from the Gulf!
When not surfing, Taylor enjoys spending time underwater, free-diving, SCUBA Diving,
fishing in Choctawhatchee Bay, and relaxing in the garden with his growing family and their
chickens.
